Teri Smith was born and raised in Southern Oregon. She graduated from Eagle Point High School and later earned both a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and master’s degree in education from Northeastern University in Boston. She and her husband Mark raised their four children in Central Point (after he won a highly disputed coin toss) and they now live in Gold Hill.
After working at both North and South Medford High Schools in the late 90’s, Teri worked at Crater High School where she became the advisor for their Sparrow Club in 2005. The connection between students and families through Sparrow Clubs is profoundly meaningful for everyone involved and their mission of compassion and service has led to Teri staying connected with the organization for over 18 years. She competed in DWTRVS in 2018 and is excited to be back this year as part of the TKO Hip-Hop team.
After working at Rogue Community College for 15 years as a faculty coordinator and instructional dean, Teri retired in 2021. She now spends her time volunteering with several organizations including the Medford School District, the Oregon Community Foundation and local advocacy groups. She also enjoys traveling, gardening, doting on her ten amazing grandchildren and walking mile after mile with her border collie, Tuffy.
