I’ve always had a love for dancing, and although I’ve never had any formal training, I revel in moving to music whether it’s nightclub, ballroom or Zumba. My mom says I did tap dance recitals as a kid. I don’t remember them, but I know I always enjoyed dancing around the house and when shows like Solid Gold came on the scene, I was hooked. I discovered the Evergreen Ballroom in 2008 and immediately fell in love. I knew nothing about ballroom dancing, save what I had seen on TV, and the instructors there made it easy and fun to learn. When they started the DWTRVS fundraiser, I jumped at the chance to be involved. I had a blast dancing with Gemineye that first year back in 2009. He is a true showman and really got into character for our routine. It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to hang out at the ballroom and I truly miss it. The ballroom has a terrific community of people and a great place for beginners and experienced dancers alike. These days, I’m married, busy with two teen step-daughters and running a successful real estate business. I’m hoping to return to the ballroom one day soon, maybe to introduce my daughters to dance. Maybe they’ll let me return as a “Star” someday. It doesn’t hurt to dream a little.
